Come back in early December to read about the 2010 McDonald’s Champion Kids and their preparations to attend the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

What is a McDonald’s Champion Kid?

McDonald’s Champion Kids are 10 children age 11 to 14 who were selected from all across the United States to come to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games to be a McDonald’s Champion Kid Correspondent.

What did the Kids do to win?

Kids submitted a short story telling in their own creative way what the Olympic Values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect meant to them with a photo or video to complement their story.

How were they selected?

Kids entries were reviewed by an independent panel of judges who determined the Finalists. Finalists were then judged by Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson, as well as a panel of Olympic athletes, including Alpine snowboarder Graham Watanabe, freestyle mogul skier Patrick Deneen, speed skaters Jennifer Rodriguez and J.R. Chelski. They were also judged by Lynn Barry, the NASPE 2009 National Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

What will the McDonald’s Champion Kids be doing at the Olympics this coming February?

McDonald’s Champion Kids and their parent/legal guardian will visit Vancouver, Canada for 4 days and 3 nights* for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games to attend Olympic Winter Games events, meet hero athletes, tour cultural sites of Canada and meet other McDonald’s Champion Kids from around the world as part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. They will report back to their hometowns and the world about their experiences at the Olympic Winter Games by posting journals, videos and photos online at mcdonalds.com
